What are your 2023 New Year’s Eve plans? Make a drone show part of your evening!

Whether you’re a new Douglas County resident or a longtime community member, New Year’s Eve is always a special time to gather with neighbors to celebrate. That’s why your Board of Douglas County Commissioners has organized a family-friendly, safe way to ring in 2024.

On Dec. 31, a 12-minute light-up drone show will take place at 7 p.m. at EchoPark Stadium (11901 Newlin Gulch Blvd. in Parker, CO 80134).

Drone shows are much quieter than traditional fireworks, making them a better option for our Veterans, children, older adults and pets. They also help dry climates like ours avoid the risk of wildfire that comes with fireworks.

“Drone shows can create state-of-the-art displays while completely reducing wildfire risk and any discomfort to our nation’s heroes,” said Commissioner Abe Laydon, Board Chair and Chair of the Douglas County Wildfire Action Collaborative. “As we close 2023 with immense gratitude for what we can accomplish together, we hope you’ll join us to celebrate the achievements of 2023 and the possibilities of 2024.”

The show will be best viewed from the stadium’s parking lot. (The stadium will not be open.) Warm beverages will be available for purchase from Traveling Tom’s Coffee, starting at 6 p.m.

Citizen safety is of the utmost importance at this event. You can expect temporary traffic patterns, increased signage and no-parking zones near the stadium. Please follow guidance from law enforcement, and please do not block driveways or public access.

This event is weather-dependent and will be canceled if wind speeds are too high. Stay tuned to the County’s Facebook and X/Twitter platforms for updates.
