If your outdoor plans include hiking or biking in Waterton Canyon, please be aware of a temporary closure underway for dust mitigation.

Weekday access to Waterton Canyon is closed from Monday, May 8, through Friday, May 19, for Denver Water’s annual dust mitigation project. Neither the parking lot at the canyon’s entrance nor the canyon will be accessible during this time. Waterton Canyon is planned to be open on Saturday, May 13, and Sunday, May 14, for weekend recreation.

As a working facility, there are times when operations and maintenance projects create unsafe conditions for the public, prompting a closure to trail access. Denver Water performs maintenance projects like this one to provide a better experience throughout the canyon by creating optimal conditions for a family-friendly hiking and biking experience.

Hikers and bikers on the Colorado Trail should seek alternative access points, which can be found at www.coloradotrail.org, during this time.
