CO 83 Douglas County Sign Replacement Project Feb. 6 – 10, 2023
Work will include the removal of 317 worn out signs, installation of 349 new signs, installation of new signposts, adding flashing beacons near schools, and upgrading delineators. The new signs will consist of speed limit, directional, street, mile point, guide, regulatory, and warning signs. This project is part of a larger effort to improve safety along the CO 83 corridor. The new signs will be larger, have better reflectivity at night to help motorists navigate the highway safely and increase visibility of route-finding markers to increase drivers familiarity to the location of access points. Flashing beacons will alert drivers of school zones while the upgraded delineators will remain visible at night and in adverse weather conditions to offer guidance to the traveling public.
New signs will be installed along CO 83 from Mile Point 30.2, El Paso County line, to MP 53.9, Bayou Gulch.
- Intermittent shoulder closures from MP 30.2 (Palmer Divide Road) to MP 53.9 (Bayou Gulch Road) Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Drivers are asked to obey the speed limit reductions and construction road signs during this time. Work will consist of drilling holes for sign foundations.
