Drivers who frequent the intersection of US 85 and Daniel’s Park Road near the Cherokee Ranch and Castle have awaited news about a new traffic signal that would make access through that intersection smoother and safer. That news is here.

During its regular Business Meeting Feb. 21, the Board of Douglas County Commissioners entered into an agreement with the Colorado Department of Transportation to partially fund a new signal where Daniel’s Park meets US 85 on the west side of Douglas County.

According to the agreement, CDOT will build and manage this new signal. Douglas County will contribute $500,000 to the total $1.3 million cost of the signal. Douglas County’s portion of the funding is from a dedicated voter-approved sales and use tax specifically for road and bridge improvements.

Construction is expected to begin later this year. See the history of this project on our webpage.

A safe and accessible multi-modal transportation network is a core priority for the Board of Douglas County Commissioners. Partnerships like this one help breathe life into this priority. Learn more on our webpage.
