Project Update

Updated Project Schedule: See “Schedule” section below for October 2022 construction.

How will construction impact you? Check out the Poston Parkway Virtual Open House for details, including construction phasing, schedule and detours.

Areas impacted by construction:
Firelight neighborhood in Highlands Ranch

The Poston Parkway Reconstruction Project includes the replacement of old, damaged, and deteriorated pavement with new concrete roadway from Grigs Road to Wildcat Reserve Parkway. At the cross-section of this roadway, the pavement thickness will increase from 7” to 9”, will have load transfer steel reinforcing bars installed in the concrete pavement, and will have a minimum of 6” recycled concrete base course as its new foundation. The number of existing lanes will remain the same.

This section of roadway will be completely closed to all pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular travel during each of the three (3) construction phases (June – September 2022).  Detour Route signage will be in place for the residents affected by the closure.

October 3 – October 7, 2022:

  • Completion of Phase 3A concrete tie-ins for curb and gutter, sidewalk and ADA ramps
  • Continuation and completion of the trench drain installation throughout Phase 3A
  • Continuation and completion of irrigation line repairs and testing
  • Continuation of landscape restoration and begin sod installation
  • Completion of saw cutting and sealing of the concrete pavement joints for Phase 3A
  • Installation of pavement lane markings with legends and symbols between the intersections of Windridge Cir./Pemberly Ave. and Amesbury Wy.
  • Switching of the current construction closure phasing from Phase 3A into the final construction Phase of 3B (anticipated to begin on October 6)

Phase 3B Detour Map

With the upcoming closure switch, access into the neighborhood(s) on the South side of Poston Pkwy. will be required to follow the detour route using Windridge Cir. to Poston Pkwy.  The Windridge Cir./Pemberly Ave. intersection will be open for access to both the neighborhood(s) and to Wildcat Reserve Pkwy. Detour signage will direct traffic through to Poston Pkwy.

The East side of the Oakshire Ave. and Stonington St. intersection will continue to be closed through to the Chandon Wy./Windridge Cir. intersection for the reconstruction of the Amesbury Wy. intersection. All other intersections, North to Wildcat Reserve Pkwy, will be open to all bicycle, pedestrian and vehicular access.

Construction fencing will continue to be used to guide pedestrians and bicyclists around the outside of the work zone limits during construction. The fencing will be extended, as needed, to the Chandon Wy./Windridge Cir. intersection.

All scheduled concrete construction activities will be dependent upon the ready-mix suppliers ability to supply the project in the daily amounts requested by the contractor and weather conditions.

Please continue to observe the posted “ROAD CLOSED” and “SIDEWALK CLOSED” regulatory signage and DO NOT enter the work zone at any time for your and our safety.

If you have any additional questions about the detour routes or the work itself, please visit the Poston Parkway Virtual Open House page for further information as to what to expect during construction activities and information about the Closure and Detour Routes around the Phase 3A and 3B work zones.

Construction began in June with anticipated completion by mid-October.
