Description:
This is a student classroom desk of wood and metal construction. The back of the seat shows two slats attached to the metal frame. The top slat is wider than the lower slat and shows child's etched lettering displaying 3 R's and H and N. The metal frame houses a drawer beneath the seat. The front and back of the metal drawer casing shows a manufacturers mark with a B in a circle. The front legs are slightly curved outward while the back legs are straight.
There is a trademark of a letter B inside a circle (see photo #3). The desk was manufactured by Hoover Bros., Inc. of Kansas City, MO. It appears in the Bradley—Hoover Better School Supplies Catalog, #37. The desk was donated the Douglas County Historical Society by Jackie Allis . The desk was recovered in 1961 before the Louviers School was demolished.
