Emissions Testing

VIN Verification

A VIN Verification is a physical inspection of the vehicle to verify that the VIN on the vehicle matches the registration or title document. This inspection can also be made by a Colorado auto dealer or a Colorado Law Enforcement Officer.

Certified VIN Inspection

A Certified VIN Inspection is more in-depth than a VIN Verification. The following are some examples that MAY require a Certified VIN Inspection:

  • Bonded Title Vehicles
  • Rebuilt Vehicle
  • Vehicles Assembled from a Kit
  • Most Trailers

Only certified Colorado State Patrol or authorized law enforcement agencies can conduct Certified VIN Inspections.
