The citizen voice on the Douglas County Board of Health is now even louder.
At their June 28 Business Meeting, the Board of County Commissioners appointed five Board of Health alternate members who may vote on Douglas County Health Department decisions in the absence of the Board of Health member for whom they have been designated as an alternate. Alternate terms coincide with the Board of Health member they represent. The following have been appointed:
Donald Parrot, from Parker, is the alternate for Board of Health President, Doug Benevento. For 10 years of his career Mr. Parrot managed community health planning agencies in three states; and has 12 years in executive management of two, large, multi-hospital health care systems. He was appointed to and served several years on the Board of Tri County Health. He received his B.A. and a Master’s of Healthcare Administration degree from Indiana University. His term expires January 2025.
Katheryn Wille, from Castle Rock, is the alternate for Board of Health Vice President, Lora Thomas. She first became familiar with and collaborated on issues associated with the County’s Health Department as a member of the Douglas County Public Health Advisory Committee. A Sources of Strength Facilitator, she works with our community’s youth in evidence-based prevention of suicide, violence, bullying and substance abuse. She received her B.A. in Integrative Physiology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Her term expires January 2026.
Kevin Bracken, from Castle Rock, is the alternate for Board of Health member, George Teal. He sits on the Castle Rock Town Council and has been in the healthcare profession since 2004. Prior to this appointment, he served on the Douglas County Public Health Advisory Committee and served as an interim alternate for an absent Board of Health member. His term expires January 2025.
Todd Devoe, from Larkspur, is the alternate for Board of Health member, Kim Muramoto. Mr. Devoe received a B.S. in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College, and a graduate degree in Homeland Security with an emphasis on Emergency Management. He served six years as a contracted program manager for the U.S. Navy, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery. His term expires January 2024.
Kathleen Waugh, from Parker, is the alternate for Board of Health member Linda Fielding. For the past 18 years, Ms. Waugh has been with the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus/Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes, most recently as a Senior Research Instructor in the Department of Pediatrics, School of Medicine, Clinical Epidemiology Division. She received her M.S. in Epidemiology from the University of Colorado Denver and her B.S. in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her term expires January 2023.
