Seniors’ Council meetings are held the first Thursday of each month from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in various locations throughout the county. All meetings are free and open to the public.

March 7 – Health of the Aging Eye
Speaker: Dr. Jessica Schuman, owner of Mile High Senior Eye Care
Location: MorningStar Senior Living in Parker

Description: Dr. Jessica Schuman, owner of Mile High Senior Eye Care, will explain what warning signs to look for as our vision changes with age. Knowing the symptoms and when to seek care can help ensure our best eye health possible.
April 4 – Explore the Colorado Agricultural Leadership Foundation (CALF)
Speaker: Brooke Fox, Executive Director of CALF
Location: CALF is located at Lowell Ranch, 2330 I-25, Castle Rock, CO 80104
Description: Brooke Fox will share the history of CALF and the Lowell Ranch Homestead, which was built in 1858. Today, Lowell Ranch remains a working ranch and serves as an education center for youth. Volunteers are needed to be a part of the education center. Brooke will provide a presentation, and weather permitting, a tour of the ranch, hopefully with some spring babies raised by the 4H Youth Groups.
May 2 – Discover the Rich History of Douglas County
Speaker: Daniel Bergeleen, Archivist at Douglas County Libraries
Location: Philip and Jerry Miller Library in Castle Rock, 100 S. Wilcox St., Castle Rock, CO 80104
Description: Join Douglas County Libraries Archivist Daniel Bergeleen to learn about how Douglas County Libraries preserves and makes our local history accessible to all. He will share what is new and exciting in the archives that are housed at the library and how you can contribute to the archives.
June 6 – Recognizing Signs of Abuse and How to Help
Speaker: Crisis Center staff
Location: Terra Bluffs, 8797 S. Chambers Rd., Parker, CO 80134
Description: Domestic violence and elder abuse occurs in all demographics. Presenters from the Crisis Center will help you to identify signs if someone you care about is experiencing abuse. They will also discuss tools to help empower those who are dealing with these difficult situations.
