Drive the West Frontage Road? Watch for new signal

New traffic signal at Tomah Road activates today

If your travels take you along the West Frontage Road south of Castle Rock, please pay extra attention near Tomah Road. The new traffic signal is active.

In partnership with the Colorado Department of Transportation and BNSF Railroad, Douglas County installed the signal to improve safety at the intersection of West Frontage Road and Tomah Road.

The signal had to be timed with the BNSF crossing, located just to the west of the intersection. CDOT will be responsible for maintaining the signal.

This safety project also included a dedicated right-turn lane for drivers traveling south along the frontage road and turning west on Tomah Road into their neighborhood.

A safe and accessible multimodal transportation network is one of the Board of County Commissioner’s six core priorities. Read more about the County’s transportation initiatives online.
