Open Riding

Open Riding Schedule

The Douglas County Fairgrounds offers open riding in our indoor arena on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. – 8 pm, schedule permitting.

January 2024 Open Riding Dates: Jan. 31

February 2024 Open Riding Dates: Feb. 7, Feb. 21 and Feb. 28

March 2024 Open Riding Dates: March 6, March 20, March 27

Please call 720-733-6900 to verify the Open Riding Schedule before arriving at the Fairgrounds, as the schedule is subject to change.

Douglas County reserves the right to cancel Open Riding at any time without notice.

 

 

Open Riding Information

Indoor Arena Schedule

Access and Cost

To access open riding, drive to the road behind event center towards the Indoor Arena, at Gate E please stop at the grey and red shed displaying an ‘open riding’ sign to pay and sign waiver. Each rider needs to sign waiver and pay prior to entering facility for each session. Payments and waivers can be placed in the slot in the shed.

  • $5.00 per session per horse or rider whichever is greater
  • Cash or check only (exact cash as no change will be given back).
  • Waiver required

Rules

To maintain a safe environment, we require all riders to abide by the following rules. Anyone not complying with these rules will be asked to leave.

  • No stallions allowed.
  • Horses must be kept under control at all times.
  • No racing, roping, barrel racing, jumping, trick riding, etc allowed.
  • No Lunging in Indoor or Outdoor Arena. Lunging is only allowed in warm-up arenas.
  • No lessons are allowed.
  • A parent or guardian must accompany anyone under the age of 18 (riders and/or spectators).
  • All riders must check-in, sign a waiver and pay the fee prior to riding.
  • Riders ride at their own risk.
  • Parking in designated areas only.
  • Open riding is designated in arenas only. Weather and schedule permitting,
  • Dogs are not allowed in the open riding area.
  • Stalls are NOT provided for open riding. Riders are expected to clean up after horses, wheelbarrows, and shovels are provided.
  • Do not tie horses to temporary panels.
  • Alcohol is not permitted.
