Thanks to your commitment to practicing COVID-19 safety measures, Douglas County has now met Level Orange metrics on the state’s dial dashboard.
The County was today informed by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), that as of Feb. 2, 2021, our community’s Orange-level COVID-19 metrics have been sustained for seven consecutive days. With this notification, Douglas County COVID Best Practices Certified businesses are eligible to operate at the less restrictive Level Yellow on the dial.
More than 290 local businesses have become certified of Douglas County’s 5 Star State Certification Program in December. These businesses have committed to implementing COVID-19 safety measures beyond what is already required and have the opportunity to accelerate their increased capacity.

Their dedication to a healthier community led to the public health metrics we have today, creating the opportunity for our 5 Star businesses to open with greater capacity while adhering to the COVID safety measures required of this program,” said Commissioner and Board Chair Lora Thomas on behalf of the Board of Douglas County Commissioners.
Currently, 188 restaurants, 52 gyms/fitness centers, 26 indoor event venues, 11 personal service and 15 general service businesses, have obtained COVID Best Practices certification. Many of these businesses have expressed that taking part in the certification program has been very beneficial to them.

Douglas County businesses interested in becoming a Certified COVID Best Practices Business may enroll for certification through the County’s website.
Douglas County was among the first to submit the application for their 5 star program, known as the COVID Best Practices Business Certification Program, to CDPHE for approval on Dec. 18, 2020. The County’s application was approved on Dec. 23, 2020, and certified businesses were able to open immediately.
The program is administered in collaboration with and with the support of Tri-County Health Department, hospitals, business community leadership, law enforcement and municipalities, including: the Castle Rock Chamber, City of Castle Pines, Castle Rock Economic Development Council, City of Lone Tree, Douglas County Libraries, Highlands Ranch Community Association, Highlands Ranch Metro District, Town of Castle Rock, Town of Parker, Parker Chamber of Commerce, and the Northwest Douglas County Chamber & Economic Development Council.
