Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Older Adult and Transportation Services Application Information

Older Adults (Community Service – Grants)

Picture of light rail stationDouglas County has a limited number of transit options based, in part, due to its location south of the Denver metro area and its terrain.  Douglas County does have a limited amount of Regional Transportation District (RTD) services in Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree and Parker.  These services are provided in the more urban areas of the county where there is a higher population of residents.  Traveling south, and to the more rural areas of the county, transportation is not as prevalent.

Douglas County receives RTD funds based on population, and Douglas County applies to the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) for transportation grant funds.  The majority of these funds are awarded to organizations that provide transportation services for specific populations or needs.  For example, many trips are available to older adults who are no longer able to drive to medical appointments, grocery shopping, or the pharmacy.  These grants make those trips possible.  In addition, trips are available to assist people with disabilities, some employment trips, and others.

Organizations that provide transportation in Douglas County that are interested in assisting clients using grant funds, please contact Grant Administrator Allison Cutting at 303-660-7460.  Please note that some funding sources are only available at certain times of the year due to the grant program year, which is not always based on the fiscal year.

Residents interested in grant-funded services, should visit the “I Need a Ride” web page.
